Prof. Dr. Konrad Ehlich: Die "Grammatikalisierung" der Sprache - Leistungsfähigkeit und Grenzen des griechisch-lateinisch bestimmten linguistischen Kategoriensystems
Guest researcher from Israel at ZAS
Funded by the German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development (GIF), Luka Črnic, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, works as Visiting Scholar at ZAS from 14/09/2015 to 05/10/2015.
Visiting Scholar from Australia
Dr. Andrea Schalley (Griffith University, Australia) will be based as Visiting Scholar at the ZAS for almost one year. Her research interests lie in both theoretical linguistics - in particular in semantics - and in applied linguistics, in the area of bi/multilingualism. She is looking forward to a fruitful collaboration with ZAS researchers from both fields.
Guest at ZAS
Timothy J. O’Donnell is a research scientist at MIT and a Junior Fellow at TU Dresden during the winter semester 2015/16. During his stay in Germany Dr. O’Donnell will also collaborate with the semantics-pragmatics group (FB IV) at ZAS on Bayesian methods in pragmatics. In his research he develops mathematical models of language acquisition and of the generalization of linguistic rules to create new words and sentences. He draws on experimental methods from psychology, and on formal techniques from natural language processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as on theoretical approaches from linguistics.
XPrag.de offers four fellowships to support outstanding recent Ph.D. graduates (linguistics, psychology, cognitive science) for a time period of 12 months each starting between October 2015 and April 2016. More information here.
